A few days ago I talked a little bit about how the living conditions here in America are generally much better than living in Turkey and I wanted to go into a little more detail about it because I think it is an important topic.

More Opportunity

Just like most materialistic things here in America like having gardens and greenery in your yard, the fact that there are many more opportunities to work and make money make the living conditions easier to obtain than where jobs are harder to find where I lived in Istanbul.

houseturkThese opportunities also mean that you have plenty of options to choose from to help you fix up or maintain your house. Before I talked about my house that I lived in when I was a child and how the leaky roof was a normal thing and was something to be expected whereas here it is not a common occurrence.

Finding roofing companies near me like this and the company that I work for now was simply out of the question for those who were less fortunate in my home country. Families like mine were responsible for taking care of their own problems and had to either fix everything themselves or learn to live with it, my family obviously choosing the latter.

This goes for businesses and any other types of jobs as well. People who are lucky enough to be living here in America have no problem finding professional help for fixing commercial buildings as well as any housing problems or to restore any roof styles.

Giving Thanks

I think that it is the little things like this that many of us, including myself, take for granted and don’t realize how good we really have it here. Where I was born, the idea of using the internet to search for basically anything you need with the click of a button was a fantasy and never something that I thought I would be able to do myself.

If anything comes from this, I hope to get some readers out there to take a step back and really appreciate everything that we have in our lives.

Living Conditions

Now thankfully, I was fortunate enough to have my family move from Istanbul to America when I was very young and I don’t remember life in too vivid of detail. What I do remember though were much worse living conditions that what we are used to seeing here.

Our House

turkeyyI remember the house that I lived in for a few years in Turkey and it was nothing like what I grew up in once we made it to America. My father did not make a lot of money when we were there and lived in a poorer neighborhood but it was average and a common thing in the town I am originally from.

There were a number of issues going on with our house that you really don’t expect to find with homes in this country. I remember there was very noticeable damage to the outside of our house and the roof was always leaking in different places while my father tried to keep up with all of them.

Just like journalism and freedom of speech, I feel that America generally has much better living conditions as a whole for its citizens and provides many more opportunities to obtain them.

Unfortunately, with everything that is going on there now I only see these conditions getting worse.
